Martin Johnson has named the England 45-man Rugby World Cup 2011 Training Squad.
A mixture of RWC fresh faces and the old guard are heading for the training camp to make their bid to feature in the final 30 heading to New Zealand.
The complete 2011 RBS 6 Nations squad are included along with 5 uncapped players: Mouritz Botha, Manusamoa Tuilagi, Thomas Waldrom, Joe Simpson and Charlie Sharples. Waldrom was recently named as Rugby Players’ Association player of the year, while Tuilagi was voted Aviva Premiership Young Player of the Year.
Matt Stevens of Saracens is also included; the 28 year old only recently returning to rugby after a two year drug suspension.
Johnson said: “Every one of these players has the chance to be in that final 30 going to New Zealand. The camp is going to be intense and competitive, as you would expect leading up to a World Cup, but all the players are ready for it.”
